Residents and contractors have the opportunity to save money
on disposal fees by source separating inert construction and
demolition debris. This debris can be disposed of at a reduced
rate at a Construction and Demolition Debris Disposal Site
(C&D Site) within the Valley Region.
C&D Sites have an Approval to Operate from the Department
of the Environment and Local Government and are only permitted
to receive the following inert debris from the renovation,
construction or demolition of a structure.
1. Concrete, brick and untreated wood
2. Siding, ceiling tile, gyproc, and insulation
3. Solid roofing materials such as shingles, trusses and metal
beams
4. Glass, metals and durable plastics from the demolition
of a building
5. Floor coverings attached to a building during demolition
6. Broken and aged asphalt
Cardboard, packaging and empty drums/containers are not permitted
for disposal at a C&D Site. Only construction and demolition
materials as set out in the Certificate of Operate will be
accepted at these sites.
To avoid having a load of materials refused at a C&D Site
(and therefore having to take it to a transfer station or
landfill for disposal and be charged the higher fee), it is
recommended that C&D debris should be properly sorted
(prior to delivery to the C&D Site) to ensure that only
approved materials are brought to the C&D Site for disposal.
All municipal solid waste and any other unapproved materials
must be disposed of at a transfer station or regional sanitary
landfills.
Please contact the C&D Site prior to delivery to obtain
information such as:
- Cost
- Hours
of operations
- Collection
service/dumpster rental
