Composting can reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill by one third.


Household Hazardous Waste Round-up Events
Many products in the home and yard can damage our environment. Dispose of them safely in the Valley’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up days.

Transfer Station
Solid waste from Carleton County is received at the Southern Valley Transfer Station where it is re-loaded into larger trailers for shipment to landfills.


Waste Disposal
There are no landfills in the Valley Region. Solid waste is transported from a transfer station or transported directly to the landfills.

Electronic Waste Recycling Pilot

Homeowneers of Carleton and Victoria Counties are invited to participate in the commission's first electronic recycling event held at the same time and place at the Woodstock Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.

The event will be held on one day only - at one location.

Many products used in our homes and yards can damage our air, water or soil if used, stored and disposed of improperly. Participating in this region’s annual Household Hazardous Waste ‘Round-up Events’ is an important step in reducing risks associated with this type of waste. It offers residents an opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous waste at no cost

Propane tanks are accepted for disposal at Household Hazardous Waste Round-up day events. The Perth-Andover fire fighters unload an old propane tank along with other materials such as paint and paint thinner for a resident.
